Artificial Intelligence in the industrial sector, ally or a threat to employment?

Artificial Intelligence in the industrial sector, ally or a threat to employment?

Aspromec is one of the partners of the first edition of Advanced Manufacturing Barcelona that EasyFairs has organized. The leading event in industrial innovation that includes the halls MetalBarcelona y Robotics Barcelona. This event will take place on the days 13 y 14 September at the Pavilion 1 of Fira de Barcelona – Gran Vía venue.

During this edition of the fair, the, among other topics of interest to the industrial sector, the role of AI as a key element in it and the next steps that this technology will follow. For it, there will be different presentations on the subject. in one of them, Jose Luis Casal, LinkedIn TOP Voices Innovacion, Advisor & Board Member and Bookker, Cable, Notbound, LUAFund, Technological Atlas, Merlin DP and Professor UB-IL3 & UCM, will address the ins and outs of AI and its impact on the industrial sector. Besides, Laia Garriga, Advanced Technological Promoter UT Artificial Intelligence in Eurecat, will analyze practical cases, advantages and challenges of applying AI in industry.

‘AI has been going strong and the industrial sector will be affected by this new actor. Thus, We are delighted to have some of the leading experts in the field discuss this new technology and the impact it will have on the industry.. Undoubtedly, It is a unique opportunity to learn about the main features that characterize this technology and its implementation pathways.’, says Oscar Barranco, director general de Easyfairs Iberia.

artificial intelligence (IA) is assuming a boom in all sectors and the industrial could not be different. This technology is making a significant impact in this area and is expected to follow suit in the near future..

The rise of AI has revolutionized society and one of the biggest concerns is jobs. There are catastrophic theories that say that the implementation of AI will end human intervention in the industry. According to the study Robotic Process Automation: Statistics, Business Impact and Future performed by SDET, about, one in five tasks performed by humans in the workplace consists of repetitive computer operations that have the potential to be automated. Bearing this in mind, the truth is, with a correct implementation, AI can be a great ally of the industrial sector, since it will free the teams from monotonous work, allowing them to focus attention on tasks that cannot be replaced by a machine.

“The implementation of AI in the industrial sector has the potential to drive significant economic growth and improve operational efficiency.. While it is true that there is some concern about the possible loss of jobs, we must see this as an opportunity for a labor transformation. By automating repetitive and monotonous tasks, workers can dedicate their time and skills to higher value-added activities, like creativity, making strategic decisions and developing new solutions”, says José Luis Casal, technology expert and speaker at Advanced Manufacturing Barcelona.

Laia Garriga is pointing in the same direction, Technology Transfer Manager and also speaker at Advanced Manufacturing Barcelona, who considers that, if AI takes over the most mechanical, it will leave room for women and men to deal with the creative or focus on the purely human. “Industries must be able to establish a good strategic plan for digitization and adoption of AI technologies, Knowing that technologies are tools that allow us to achieve certain objectives, but it is the people and organizations that decide where they want to go, What are their needs or what should they do to be more competitive in the market?. This continues to be the key to the success of any company beyond technology”, ensures.

Among the main benefits of the application of AI in the industrial sector, highlights, as determined by Garriga, production optimization, safety and quality improvement, as well as the planning of operations and resources. In this way, affirms: "Day IA is profoundly transforming the industrial sector, opening unprecedented and unimaginable scenarios until a few years ago. Thanks to its ability to process huge volumes of data and learn from mistakes, The way in which companies manage their activities and production processes is changing”.

By last, Casal concludes: “The adoption of advanced technologies can open the door to the creation of emerging jobs in the field of AI and digitization. It is crucial that companies and governments invest in training and skills development programs to ensure that workers are prepared for the jobs of the future.”.

Don't miss the opportunity to attend Advanced Manufacturing Barcelona, event that will become a great showcase of innovative solutions in equipment for metal processing, industrial components, additive manufacturing, connected industry and much more. subscriber here.
